Methodist Youth Fellowship
Our youth are a vital part of our church family. For over 30 years, Hughes has provided middle school and high school youth an opportunity to interact with their peers and grow in their faith. Our Mid-High and Senior High MYF groups meet regularly at Hughes with their MYF Counselors. Through our MYF, we strive to lead our youth through the most challenging part of their lives with a strong commitment to faith that we hope will serve as a foundation for their emergence as a mature Christian.
Senior High MYF
This year's Senior High MYF comprises 16 Christian teenagers from six different high schools. Our group has chosen the theme "Putting on God's Armor " for 2007-2008. We are studying the different pieces of God's Armor, their functions and how we acquire each component.
In January, we attended the Baltimore-Washington Conference's Youth Retreat - ROCK 2008. This Year's theme was "Jesus Christ: More than a Rock Star". We had a blast spending the weekend with over 5,600 other Methodists praising God, sharing our experiences as Christians, and learning ways to spread the word of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mid-High MYF
Mid-High MYF is a vibrant group of 6th, 7th and 8th graders. We gather for discussion, games, bible study and service projects. Our objective is to learn more about God and strengthen our understanding about the joy of a personal relationship wth Jesus Christ as we prepare for our confirmation, where our eighth-graders will publicly confirm the promises they have made in their faith journey.
