Rev. Kenneth B. Hawes, Senior Pastor
Rev. Kenneth B. Hawes received his Masters of Divinity in 1994 from Wesley Theological Seminary, after having earned his Masters in Music from Manhattan School of Music and Bachelor of Fine Arts from the State University of NY at Purchase.
Ken’s passions in ministry are preaching, helping individuals and congregations grow in love and service to Christ, and seeking justice and peace in God’s world. He has served churches in Stamford, CT, Croton on Hudson, NY and Hagerstown, MD.
An avid musician, he plays French horn with the Frederick Symphony Orchestra and other area ensembles. Ken also enjoys baseball, hiking and biking. He is married to Nancy Hammond and they provide a home to a retired greyhound and two cats.

Marie J. Bunting, Director of Music
Mrs. Bunting earned the Master of Music Education degree from the University of Maryland in 1974. She was a music teacher in the Prince George's County Public School system for 32 years, retiring in 2002. Mrs. Bunting became the choir director at Hughes in the fall of 1985 and assumed the duties of Director of Music in the fall of 2000. She began the bell choirs when the bells were purchased in the winter of 1984, and still directs the adult bell choir as well as the Chancel Choir.

Dr. Van Knauss, Organist
Dr. Van Knauss earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Catholic University in 1972 and became the music department chairman at Columbia Union College, Washington, D. C. in the fall of 1972. He began his teaching career at Columbia Union College in April of 1967.
